Richard Thornberry is chief executive officer of Radian Group Inc. (NYSE: RDN). Headquartered in Philadelphia, Radian provides private mortgage insurance and products and services to the mortgage and real estate industries. Radian is one of the largest private mortgage insurers of U.S. residential mortgages, and its mortgage and real estate services segment is a leader in each of its industries.

Mr. Thornberry has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, as a leader of some of the most innovative mortgage industry businesses. Most recently, he served as the chairman and chief executive officer of NexSpring Group, LLC., a firm he co-founded in 2006 to partner with and advise leading private equity firms related to potential financial services M&A transactions. The firm was later expanded to provide mortgage industry advisory and technology services to mortgage lenders, financial institutions, mortgage investors and other mortgage industry service providers.

Mr. Thornberry was also co-founder, chairman and chief executive officer of NexSpring Financial, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of NexSpring Group, which is a fintech business currently being launched to focus on improving the overall value proposition for all participants in a residential mortgage origination transaction. During the financial crisis, he served as a senior advisor to the financial institution investment team at a leading private equity firm. Prior to founding NexSpring, Mr. Thornberry teamed up with KKR, a global investment firm, to co-found and launch Nexstar Financial Corporation, Inc., a leading end-to-end mortgage business process outsourcing firm. Under his leadership, Nexstar was recognized as one of the nation’s fastest growing companies, and was acquired by MBNA. Prior to Nexstar, Mr. Thornberry was the president and chief operating officer of Citicorp Mortgage Inc., and he also held executive-level financial and operating positions at Residential Services Corporation of America/Prudential Home Mortgage Company, including as chief financial officer, until the company was sold in 1996. Mr. Thornberry began his career as a certified public accountant at Deloitte where he primarily worked with financial services clients and entrepreneurial businesses.

Mr. Thornberry earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from St. Louis University.

J. Franklin Hall

As chief financial officer, Frank Hall is responsible for all financial functions, including regulatory and management reporting, financial planning and analysis, enterprise capital planning, investment portfolio management, corporate development, enterprise risk management, tax, treasury and facilities at Radian Group Inc. 

Prior to joining Radian, Mr. Hall was executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of First Financial Bancorp. He joined First Financial in 1999 and served in a variety of leadership roles. Mr. Hall began his career with Ernst & Young and later joined Firstar Bank (now US Bank) in their credit card division. 

Mr. Hall earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Miami University and an MBA from Xavier University.

Derek Brummer

As senior executive vice president of mortgage insurance and risk services for Radian Group Inc., Derek Brummer is responsible for all aspects of the risk management strategy and framework, as well as evaluating credit policy, for Radian and its subsidiaries. In this role, Mr. Brummer leads the team responsible for all mortgage insurance, credit risk products and operations.

Mr. Brummer joined Radian in 2002 and has served as Radian's chief risk officer since 2013. Prior to that, he was chief risk officer and general counsel for Radian Asset Assurance Inc., where he managed all risk and legal matters for the financial guaranty company and its insured portfolio. Mr. Brummer led all risk management strategy, overseeing portfolio surveillance, reserving, quantitative analytics and modeling, and directing restructurings and workouts. He also played a key role in developing and structuring new product lines and overseeing various underwriting committees. Prior to joining Radian, Mr. Brummer was a corporate associate at Allen & Overy; and Cravath, Swaine & Moore, both in New York.

Mr. Brummer holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and a J.D. from New York University School of Law.

Ted Hoffman

As general counsel and corporate secretary, Ted Hoffman is responsible for legal and regulatory compliance.

Since joining Radian in 2005, Mr. Hoffman has managed SEC, NYSE and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, corporate governance and other corporate related matters. Mr. Hoffman was promoted to senior vice president, assistant general counsel in February 2008. Prior to joining Radian, Mr. Hoffman was a senior associate in the Corporate and Securities Group of Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP in Philadelphia.

Mr. Hoffman holds a bachelor’s degree from Colgate University and a JD from Villanova University School of Law. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar.

Brien McMahon

As senior executive vice president and chief franchise officer for Radian Group Inc., Brien McMahon is responsible for leading Radian’s enterprise, mortgage insurance, services and enhanced sales teams as well as marketing and customer experience strategies.

Having served in the financial services industry for more than 25 years, Mr. McMahon formerly held the position of executive vice president for Realogy Franchise Group, where he directed sales, training and administration for multiple premier real estate brands including: Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, Century 21 Real Estate LLC, Coldwell Banker, Coldwell Banker Commercial, ERA, and Sotheby's International Realty. Prior to Realogy, Mr. McMahon served 14 years with PHH US Mortgage in a variety of roles, including senior vice president of national sales.

Mr. McMahon received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut. He is also a member of the board for Lordship Beach Organization.

Eric R. Ray

As senior executive vice president of technology and transaction services, Eric Ray is responsible for the overall vision, strategy and leadership for the enterprise-wide IT function and for leading the company’s Services businesses.

Mr. Ray has more than 30 years of experience in the technology sector. Most recently, he held the role of General Manager, Global Technology Services at IBM Corporation where he was responsible for the IBM North American technology consulting business, project based services and enterprise-wide technology offerings.

Mr. Ray received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and his MBA from the University of Detroit.

Nadia Girardot

As the Chief Audit Executive, Nadia Girardot is responsible for the Internal Audit function at Radian Group Inc. Ms. Girardot joined the Internal Audit Department at Radian in August 2017. Before joining Radian, Ms. Girardot was Vice President, Internal Audit Director and head of the Latin America Audit team at Chubb Group. Prior to her tenure at Chubb Group, she spent several years holding different Internal Audit roles in the mortgage and insurance industry.

The first nine years of Ms. Girardot’s professional career were in public accounting within the Assurance practice at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte.

Ms. Girardot is a cum laude graduate of Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and holds a Mexican CPA. Nadia is bicultural and fluent in Spanish and English.

Rob Quigley

As controller and chief accounting officer, Rob Quigley is responsible for all accounting operations, including SEC and statutory reporting, accounting policy, general ledger systems, internal financial controls, and accounting and financial operations for Radian and its subsidiaries.

Mr. Quigley joined Radian in 2009 as senior vice president, assistant corporate controller and most recently served as senior vice president, financial planning & analysis prior to the appointment to his current role in 2018. Prior to joining Radian, he spent 10 years with Capmark Financial Group, Inc., a global provider of financial services to investors in commercial real estate-related assets, where he held positions of increasing responsibility leading to his appointment as senior vice president, chief accounting officer for North American operations. He began his career in the audit practices of KPMG and then Ernst & Young in New York City.

Mr. Quigley earned a bachelor's degree in English and Economics from Williams College and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from New York University Stern School of Business.

Emily Riley

As senior vice president of corporate communications and investor relations at Radian Group Inc., Emily Riley directs investor relations, public relations and brand strategy for Radian.

Ms. Riley first joined Radian in 1995 and served in various corporate communications, investor relations and reputation management roles until 2007, when she joined Rohm and Haas Company as manager of financial communications. Ms. Riley returned to Radian in 2009, and was promoted to her current role in 2013.

Ms. Riley holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Rutgers University and a master’s degree in corporate public relations from Rowan University. She is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) and is an IRC® charter holder, as well as a member of the Forum-Group, a network of senior communications executives.

Anita Scott

As Chief Human Resources Officer for Radian Group Inc., Ms. Scott is responsible for all human resources management, including Workforce Strategy, Employee Benefits, Compensation, Employee Relations, Executive Development, HR Operations, Diversity and Inclusion, Talent Acquisition and Talent Organizational Development. She leads continuous efforts to drive and maintain Radian’s culture, striving for attracting, engaging, developing, and retaining top talent.

Ms. Scott has more than 30 years’ experience in the global financial services industry. She joined Radian in 1999, after serving twenty years with Advanta Corporation in various line management roles and human resources positions.

Ms. Scott serves as member of various organizations, keeping connected with the local business community, including volunteer work and serving on nonprofit Boards and committees. The volunteer and committee assignments include: Philadelphia Society of People and Strategy (PSPS), Board member for A Woman’s Place, Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), HRPS (HR People and Strategy), and a 2007 Alumni of LEADERSHIP Philadelphia. Anita is an active member of The Forum of Executive Women (FOEW) and recently joined the Board of FOEW, chairing the Engagement Committee.
